The most famous assassin from the video game world is returning soon, but to kept your anticipation under check, Square Enix have released a mini preview game, Hitman Sniper Challenge. In order to gain access to the mini game you will have to pre-order the game and once you do you can then download it to your console.
So what exactly is this Sniper Challenge game? Well its a challenge level where you have the task of assassinating some VIP and all of his body guards for points. However there are some twists, with ways to help you get a high multiplyer and grab the top score on the leader boards. The really interesting and gripping aspect to the mini game is that there is so much to look at and consider before making your shot. Should you simply take out the main target as soon as you see him, or scope out the surroundings and waiting for the perfect time to strike. OR better yet take out his guards one by one without causing the alarm.
Ok so the setting is as follows, you are on the top of one building armed with a sniper rifle capable of 10 rounds, across on the other building is a roof party where the VIP guest (your target) arrives via helicopter. He has a total of 10 guards scattered around the area patrolling. Theres a bunch of civilians having a good time on the dance floor. Your job is to take out as many of the guards and the vip without alerting the alarm, however if you do then set off the alarm then all the targets start to flee. Now remember that you are playing to earn the highest score possible so every target that get away you are loosing score.
Every way you kill the targets has a score, body shots, leg shots and the highest head shots. Take out the guy via a head shot and he is moving gives you more points, hide the body, get more points. Don’t alert the guards more points. Do all of this quickly, yes you only have 15 minutes to complete your task. There are other added little challenges in the game to do around the area, such as shoot the flying bird, find and take out the three gnomes etc. It is quite awesome the amount of things happening and to do in just the simple level, making it quite a great little addictive game, simple yet challenging, perfect to pass the time.
The game also looks and sounds great, characters move just as they did in that super long demo that was showcased a while ago. I really enjoyed this little teaser from Square Enix, however there are only two things seriously wrong with it.
- This isn’t the full game! It’s really cruel to tease us with this awesome little game for 6 months before the actual game is released. But I’d rather have this than nothing.
- That it not available to everyone. I think its a brilliant marketing technique and if more people played this, then more people would pre-order the actual game.
A great little game that I will not delete even after the game is released. I am seriously looking forward to this game now wondering what missions Square Enix will send us on?
Bonus: Here is a video of the number ninth place as of 13 May 2012. It should give you an idea of the type of things you can do.
