Yes we all knew that this was coming, but at least now we have some solid proof. The guys over at Entertainment Weekly have removed the covers to reveal the eagerly anticipated and long-rumored third installment in the Uncharted series which will be titled Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.
Uncharted 3 will take place in the desert as previously reported and rumoured, specifically the vast wastelands of the Rub’ al Khali Desert, and focuses on Drake’s relationship with long time chum Victor “Sully” Sullivan as he embarks on a quest to unearth a legendary lost city.
“When we first came up with the idea of sand, you see everyone’s eyes light up here and go, ‘Yeah, that’s going to be really hard — let’s do it!’,” Naughty Dog writer, Amy Hennig, states.
Co-president, Evan Wells, added: “We’re a bunch of nerds. We just look for something that will be a technical, artistic challenge, and allowed us to push into an area of the world and history we’ve never tapped into before.”
The team are looking to invest more into the game’s multiplayer section this time around, with Wells commenting, ““We want to take on the big boys of the multi-player genre.”
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is set for release in late 2011 exclusively for PlayStation 3. Possibly in October the same month that Uncharted 2 was released. Expect more news from VGAs this weekend.
