GT5 Update coming on Saturday

It’s no secret that big games these days are always plagued by problems and/or bugs and even though GT5 was in development for over 5 years, the story isn’t much different. I haven’t played GT5 so I can’t comment but from what it seems, many people are not very happy with certain aspects of the game and one of those seems to be online issues whether they be congestion related, or otherwise. Luckily there is hope as creator Kazunori Yamauchi has confirmed in an interview with Eurogamer.
“We received a lot of demands for having more regulations placed on the online play. We’re going to perform an update on the 27th that will include things like max power restrictions and weight restrictions,”Yamauchi said.
“Yesterday the online service was kind of in a critical state,” Yamauchi said.
“The data centre was set up to handle 500,000 connections but the number of connections we received greatly exceeded that amount and there was a high chance of experiencing problems as a result.
“The design of the GT game really integrates the online and offline parts. So the problems online actually affected the offline play as well. Right now we’ve changed the number of simultaneous connections that are possible to one million, doubling the number, and we’re trying to gauge what will happen, but we don’t know at this point in time.”
So here’s to hoping that Polyphony Digital strive to bring updates thick and fast to keep improving on the giant that is Gran Turismo 5. After all, they wouldn’t want a game they spent so long developing being dubbed as a failure. Source
