UPDATE: Next PS3 Firmware Update to add Store Recommendations
Posted on 27. Jul, 2010 by Freak_c in News, Patches, PSN Network
UPDATE: Well not too long after I posted this I saw that the firmware is live and mandatory. Get the firmware here and directions on how to install it via a flash drive.
Looks like we are set for another firmware update soon. The firmware, version 3.41 with add recommendations of games and videos in the PlayStation store. The new “You May Like” section will be added to the ride-hand side of the screen while browsing through various game and video titles. The update is coming soon and is a great way to discover new games that you may not know about, and it’s another step toward making the shopping experience easier and better for you all says Sony.
A lot of people will complain about this update saying, why wasn’t it just included with the previous update? A 160mb for a simple feature? I must warn you that there is no mention weather the update is mandatory yet. Also Sony maybe hiding something in the update or it could also include some more tweaks for the 3D technology. Apparently, this update also does some stuff to the built-in browser’s flash, and adds a feature I quite like: incremental patching.
In other words, much faster patches because you don’t have to download the entire 160 odd MB update everytime, but just what has changed from the last one.

Hi There,
Can someone please help me. I need to update my PS3. I bought my PS3 in South Africa. What firmware do I need to update my PS3 with? And where can I found this firmware?
I see some of the firmware updates say it is only for consoles purchased in North America etc.
Thanks guys,
