PS3 going 3-D this July?

Well, 3-D on the PS3 is not exactly news to us because talk of the console taking a step in the 3-D direction has been around for a while now… We’ve had games released that use 3-D technology, but we have yet to witness it’s all-round power particularly with regards to HD 3-D home entertainment. The PS3 has been Sony’s backbone of their movement into 3-D and will become available in a firmware patch sometime this year… Well, that’s what everyone thought because no solid release date was given, but on a 3D FAQ page, Bestbuy has given the first solid timeframe for the PS3 3D patch.

To watch 3D Blu-ray Discs, you’ll need to add a 3D-ready Blu-ray player (or update your PS3 with the appropriate firmware when it becomes available in July).

July isn’t too far away, but I suspect they’re not rushing to release it, so as to test it properly in conjunction with big hit games due for release such as Gran Turismo 5, but especially with regards to the new motion sensing technology… All we can do now is imagine playing a hugely fantastic game, with motion sensing as the 3-D immerses you in the game. Gaming bliss? I think so! Source
