It’s very difficult to see any light today in all of the darkness brought about by all the PS3′s going down due to the clock bug on the fat ps3′s. However, a golden light comes from the 1st weeks sales of the hyped Heavy Rain. Even with average review scores of 8.8 and a 9.1 from VGChartz, and the hype we’re use to recieving from all the media attention, predictions saw the game selling slowly due to it’s revolutionarey gameplay.
However, no predictions could have seen sales of these numbers in it’s first week. Preliminary sales data is in and it looks like Heavy Rain has sold around 500,000 units in week one. In key markets – around 200,000 were sold in the Americas, nearly 100,000 in the UK, over 50,000 in France and 25,000 in Japan. The hype, mixed with great average reviews should keep the game selling at a steady pace throughout the year and hopefully more thereafter. Hopefully, if all goes well, we should see Heavy Rain sales numbers hitting the 1.5 million mark by christmas. Source.
