PS3 Finally Making it’s Come Back?

Recently Sony reported that the PS3 has made a total of 33.71 million units sold worldwide. Just about half of what the Wii has done. And of course you are wondering about the main competitor, the Xbox 360 recently-announced a 39 million unit sales. Sony has started catching up and mainly started seeing an increase in sales. A report from Research and Markets also provides further confirmation that the system is increasing in popularity around the world.

“The PS3 is dominant in Japan and Korea,” the report notes, “and as of June 2008, has begun to outsell the Xbox 360 in Europe. It is also steadily increasing its market share in all other regions across the globe, including in the North American market.” The Xbox 360 is still ahead of the PS3 in North America. It’s worth noting that the increase in sales in Europe predates the price drop and introduction of the PS3 Slim.

I think this is due to 3 reasons, 1) The price drop 2) The introduction of the Slim and most importantly the software lineup! I mean in February and March we are getting some amazing titles; Heavy Rain, MAG, God of War 3, Final Fantasy XIII and more. 2010 will truly be the year of the PS3, although for me every year has been that.
