Uncharted 2 demo: Hands on experience

So I was one of a few who actually went and downloaded the demo to have a go before launch… First things first, it’s brilliant. Having said this though, there isn’t much time to drool over the graphics while playing online multiplayer. One of the modes tested was co-op, normal, as well as gold rush, and to me it seems this is the section the game will shine the most. It is very fun for all players and gets progressively harder as you proceed along. Don’t expect easy moments though, as even from level 1, the enemy AI is rather clever and try to flank you as often as possible.

There is one con I’ve come across, and owners of slow lines may want to look away now. When playing normal online like deathmatch and such, your lines probably won’t be able to handle it… There is no lag as such, but you tend to freeze a lot, becoming target practice for your enemies, as well as looking pretty daft in the process. This is quite annoying as you may imagine, lets hope it’s not an issue on release day.

Otherwise the demo has quite a bit of longevity, and is lots of fun as well as mouth watering. It has a sort of Unreal tournament online feel to it, without being fake, but realistic. I’ve had more fun with this demo then many full retail games I’ve had the pleasure of playing. The musical score is excellent, sound effects are excellent, and the graphics are simply mind blowing. This all leads me to believe the full game once released won’t just be epic, but it will definitely be the greatest game anyone has ever seen, and may be for some time to come.

    i had a go last night, and like you said, i didn’t actually get time to look at the visual quality… spent most of the time in respawn sadly.

    the tdm is nothing new, but i did have a lot of fun despite my lack of skills. hopefully i’ll get to try the co-op tonight.

    anyone how’s looking forward to this game, get the demo/beta! its well worth every mb of your cap.

    I don’t wanna spoil my “fun factor” for the game… got the special edition on pre-order and keeping one eye on your clock…

    decided to wait by dusting the old copy of uncharted for nostalgic reasons

    It’s awesome, when I can get into a game that is. I hope they sort out the matchmaking for the full release. I couldn’t even join party invites ;( Co-op is a lot of fun though :)

      i also struggled to find a game last night. hopefully it was down to popularity and not a serious problem.
