PS3 Outsells Wii 2 Months Straight in Japan

I know this is a little bit old news but the news today is fairly slow today and I’m by myself and busy at work, also busy working on some reviews, for this week so stay tuned and bare with me. Anyway it looks like the Wii has calmed down in the sales department. In the country of origin (Japan) the PS3 (the true next gen console) has out sold the Wii for the second month in a row. I have a Wii and the last time I used it was like 3 months ago, theres just so much more on the PS3.
For the past two months, Sony’s PlayStation 3 has outsold the Wii. It hasn’t outsold it by the impressive margins that Nintendo was doing in Japan, when it was selling six Wiis for every PS3 sold, but Sony’s higher priced platform is currently holding its own. Since the Wii got so much press for its massive sales in 2008, we’d expect that Sony is enjoying its time in the sun.
In February, the PS3 managed to sell approximately 87,000 units, according to Media Create. That’s enough to put it past the Wii, which sold about 76,000 units. In March, however, Sony’s lead grew, with PS3 sales reaching 116,000, Wii sales declining to less than 70,000. News Source.

Thats good news but it is the PS3 sales to the xbox’s that we must actually compare being two hardcore consoles!

i japan the xbox is struggling massively compared to ps3… in the region of 5-1.
for rest of the world its a totally different story

Well easy, I dont think Sony cares too much if M$ is outselling them slightly,which it is,even if the xbox was outselling the PS3 in the rest of the world at 3-1,which it isnt ,Sony is still making more money overall and at the end of the day that is what counts and people tend to forget that!Its like with horses,a guy can sell 4 horses worth 50k but the guy that sold one horse worth 300k still makes more money which brings me to my next point,you get what you pay for and in the gaming world the PS3 is the thoroughbred!

i wasn’t by any means dissing ps3 sales or its capabilities, i was just stating that ps3 sales in japan are huge and conquering the mighty wee.

Great to see PS3 sales picking up. It’ll be interesting to see these numbers when Final Fantasy XII hits.
