UPDATE: Sony has a PlayStation Announcement on March 31

This statement is sure to cause a stir on the press and Internet. Sony has promised an announcement to a few big gaming websites and even Kotaku. What is it? No one knows as this is all that has been said by Sony and why state it just a few days after the GDC? It could be huge, like a proper price cut, new game exclusives, or even that they have successfully managed to clone trees. Or it could be boring news like, no price cut ever, boring new games, they have successfully managed to get washing machine to work!
So we will have to wait until tomorrow to see what it is. Also remember they said a PlayStation announcement which means the news is not entirely about for the PS3, it could be about the PSP. News Source.

UPDATE: Ok so I waited a day just to make sure that the news I heard was false or some other news. A lass it turned out to be very disappointing, what it was, was that now the PS2, yes 2 not 3 can be snatched up for $99 (R1000). That’s it! My hopes have been crushed as I was hoping for a slim PS3 or even a cool addition like a USB coffee maker or cold drink cooler, oh well.

Could be a price cut looming or Sony hits us with a side winder and says its discontinuing the PS3 or they could give M$ some of it own meds and announce that gears of war will be coming to the PS3!

Gears on the PS3 sounds a lot better than Sony discontinuing the PS3! But I don’t think either will happen anyway.

i reckon its gonna be along the lines of an update to xmb or revamp of the psn store (think i read a while ago that sony were looking into that).
i doubt its anything ground breaking though.
i’m more than happy that gears is a xbox exclusive, don’t see the attraction at all.

I totally agree with you easy,I dont really care for Gears either but can you imagine how p!ssed off the xbox fanboys would be if it did happen,that,for me would be better than when KZ 2 was released!

I thinks it might be the fact that it has been proven that all PS3 owners have superior IQ’s to anyone else. Saw it on CNN today. Promise.

I think it is a good move,by doing this Sony is bringing a console to people who cant afford a current gen console and this will also have a big effect on the casual gaming community,PS2′s sales will rise and stand strong at least for a few weeks after the price drop,as far as the PS3 goes,Sony is going to drag out the price cut for as long as they can but when the price cut comes,it wont be gradually like with the xbox,it will be sudden and it will be steep but it wont be for a while still!
