Homeless in South Africa: Error Z(7, -12) UPDATE

Posted on 12. Dec, 2008 by in News

All happy that you have Home? Well us South Africans are pretty darn disappointed!!!! Since the Closed beta we have been receiving an error “Z(7, -12)” when trying to connect to Playstation Home. We still haven’t had the problem fixed or acknowledged even after reporting the error while in the closed beta.

TedTheDog (Home Community Manager) has stated in this post “This means your account is based in a country that does not have a PlayStation Store and is therefore not supported. Use the account you used to download it?”

Uuuum, So in other words if your country doesn’t have the Playstation Store you have no Home support? Well Ted I hate to tell you this but… WE HAVE A LOCAL PLAYSTATION STORE!

I say bugger this why should us South Africans settle for less, we have a loyal PS3 community and have been waiting 2 years for Playstation Home.

Support South African Home implementation by posting HERE on Official EU Forums AND Personal Message TedTheDog about the problem in South Africa.

(UPDATE) Just had confirmation that the fix will be going live in the next 20 minutes. It doesnt require downtime so is pretty straight forward. It was a missing line from a server file and they’re amending it now. Ted

BIG thanks to TedTheDog and MusterBuster for resolving the issue for us!! Oh and let’s not forget the awesome South African Playstation 3 community for making the problem known! See you all in Home!

I can’t even get INTO Home. I downloaded it, started it and it just sits at the screen that warns about the HDD access. Anybody else having this?

Make sure your controller is set to 1. Won’t work if its on 2-7. To solve it, press and hold the PS button. You’ll have an option to reassign the controller.

Well, Romania is in the same boat, oh wait… it’s in even a smaller boat: we don’t have the Store, hence no Home for us.

I think it also has to do with how many people are accessing the site.

The first time I went in. The second time I got the error, so I just kept trying to connect until (I assume) someone else left, that allowed me to join.

    Home works and looks fantastic!

I can sign in to Home using my South African account. Couldn’t do it with the closed beta though, I assumed they fixed the problem… obviously not…
