Sony being Sued… Again?
Posted on 18. Sep, 2008 by Johnn0 in News
Yes, again, but this time David Jaffe – the outspoken creator of the God of War series – is being pulled into the mix. The suit was filed by Jonathan Bissoon-Dath and Jennifer Barrette-Herzog (double-barrel surname tag team… niiiice) in late February gamepolitics is reporting.
The two are alleging that Sony Computer Entertainment America and David Jaffe have infringed on their copyrighted works. Apparently in 2002 the duo submitted a screenplay (written by Jonathan Bissoon-Dath) and a map (created by Jennifer Barrette-Herzog) to Sony Pictures “as well as agents who also did business with SCEA”. So i guess they implying that Sony stole the idea and gave it to Jaffe and the gang?
As you may have guessed by now, the screenplay is all about Greek Mythology, Athens, Ares, Spartans and a hero of the Gods named Owen.
Now, there is no doubt that there are some similarities between the screenplay and the GoW storyline but, it is Greek Mythology and as such there will always be some similarities between any work that follows that theme, the case is proceeding so its simply a matter of time before we know if Kratos is indeed a dude named Owen.
