Bioshock, To Be Shockingly Good on PS3

Last Year, both Xbox 360 and PC owners were treated with a game called Bioshock. I played the PC version and it was probably one of the most amazing FPS’s I have ever played. This year in October ’08 we PS3 owners will get an ENHANCED version of Bioshock. It will include extra gameplay and all kinds of goodies. The game looked great on PC and will look the same on the PS3, it’s going to look amazing. The guys at GamingTrend got some info about the game:
GamingTrend only got to see one of the new features of BioShock for the PS3, but it sounds like an interesting feature. While they have people across the many 2K teams working on the port to the PS3, a small team from 2K Boston is working on exclusive downloadable content for the PS3. The way you can use weapons, gene tonics, and plasmids in BioShock make it possible for a unique experience for every player. The people at 2K Boston wanted to create a way to use all the resources at the player’s disposal and make player’s think more creatively. That’s how they came up with “Challenge Rooms.”
These Challenge Rooms require the use of the toolset available to them to solve an objective. Some of these may be combat based, but the one room I saw was puzzle based in nature. They are designed to be outside the world of BioShock, but still maintain the flavor of Rapture. The inside joke in the game studio is that they are “pulp adventures in Rapture.” You won’t find any new story elements in these Challenge Rooms though.
The Challenge Room I saw had a Little Sister stuck at the top of a Ferris wheel and not able to get down. The controls of the Ferris wheel weren’t working due to a short. They gave the controls an electro-blast, but it only powered up the controls so that the cars moved one space. Obviously other methods would need to be used to power up the controls. They don’t also give the players the most obvious way to solve the puzzle, which in this case would be the Electro-bolt Plasmid, so players will need to think outside the box.
There will also be games to play inside the room. While they are fun to test out the physics, if you are successful you get prizes. For example, hitting some cans with a ball in a carnival game setting results in EVE packets.
They will be available from the main menu once they are downloaded, so that means you can play with them instantly. You won’t be going through these adventures with your current character, and you won’t need to play through the entire game to play the new content either. They will also be supporting trophies by things like time completed.
Bioshock will also include trophies which will be awesome and I’ll definitely be getting the PS3 version. News Source
