Playstation Eye on Apple Mac

Posted on 12. May, 2008 by in News, Peripherals

So you have thought about hooking your Playstation Eye up to your Apple Mac but only realizing that you don’t have the right drivers to get it to work. Well luckily for you macam has the answer.

macam is a driver for USB webcams on Mac OS X which supports several hundred different cameras including the Playstation eye and the Eye Toy as well. Which brings me to my next question. Why would you want to hook your Playstation Eye to your Apple Mac? Because you can?

Because the picture quality is better than that from the built-in iSight on a Macbook.

The PS Eye works with iChat but keeps and with Skype but seems to cut out in Skype. This gets a little annoying b/c you have to quit Skype then disconnecting and reconnecting to renew video.
